8/1/10
Story By Landon Sciacca
The second race of the Carter Lumber Late Models brings us to Sandusky Speedway, in Sandusky Ohio. This is a .5 mile, two dragstrips tied together.
The #02 NOS-Shift Toyota,Austin Van Wey, would pick up the Fast Qualifyer with a time of 19.771, The inversion would play into the hand of the #00 Jegs,Architect Glass Pontiac of Landon Sciacca who would pick up the pole. The Second Straight Pole by a Dennis Racing Entry.
As the field came down to the green flag, the #00 of Landon Sciacca, and the #20 of Jeff Dawkins would lead the field to the start of the Carter Lumber 75.
Landon Would come out of turn 2 with the lead, but coming from the 10th posistion, Austin Van Wey was making it three wide, showing he was the one to beat, and not wanting to waste anytime getting to the front, up to 4th by lap 3.
Landon would continue to lead, with Jeff Dawkins right there, waiting for him to slip up. And at this point, the 02 was up to 3rd, right behind the lead duo.
The would stay 1,2,3 until lap 11, coming out of turn 4, your points leader, #94 Nick Chaboudy, bounches off the turn 4 wall, coming down into the #0 of Donnie Hill, causing our first Caution of the year. The 02 also beat the 20 to the line, so the 02 has come from the 10th starting spot, now with the 00 in his sights. The #94 would eventualy retire, as the damage resulted to much to continue,so know, the question is, who will leave Sandusky with the Points lead?
Restart would come on lap 18, and Austin would waste no time, and pull to the outside of the #00 and make the pass, taking the lead at lap 19.
They would stay this way, untill lap 26, when the #41 George Chaboudy Sr, looked to the outside of the #0, and lost it in turn one, going over the embankment, and slaming the guard wall, bringning out the second yellow of the event
Restart would come at lap 32, and the 02 would pull away, and your top 3 would remain the same until 10 laps later, when the #0 would bounce off the wall, into the #37 of Austin Mills.
Restart Would come at lap 43, and again, Austin Van Wey,showed he was the dominant car, and would just rocket off the restart, and pull away, and it looked like the #00 or the #20 had no shot at the win.
Until lap 62, in turn 3, looked like the closing rate for the #02 was just a little too fast, as he got into the back of the #0, but there was no yellow, but on lap 65,the 02 pits, with some aparent RF Wheel or Tire Damage, and he then gives the lead to pole sitter Landon Sciacca, and also gives Jeff Dawkins a shot at the trophy,
One lap later, the #0 would bounce off the walla once again, then coming into the #35 of MAtthew Spinks. Bringing out the 4th yellow of the 75 lap event.
When we would get the event started, we would have a green, white, checkard. The #20 of Jeff Dawkins would try to take the lead, but Landon Sciacca would hold him off, and pick up the Carter Lumber 75 victory at Sandusky!!
The #20 of Jeff Dawkins would finish second, #21 Shady Jackson, #23 Derek Lacy, #7 Ashley Huffman would round out your top 5.
Shady Jackson would come out of Sandusky with the Points Lead, only one point ahead of his teamate #20 Jeff Dawkins, and Landon Sciacca would gain 8 spots, up to 4th in the points.
